Pregnancy reflexology

For most pregnant mums, reflexology is a totally blissful way to soothe tired and sore feet, as well as keeping your body balanced and in optimal health. Reflexology during pregnancy is considered safe but is also a natural and non-invasive treatment. Restoring and maintaining your body’s ever-changing balance during this time, where fluctuations in hormones can occur.

Reflexology can support pregnancy in several ways these include

  • Morning sickness
  • Insomnia
  • Back and joint pain
  • Pubic dysfunction
  • Tiredness
  • Stress reduction
  • Heartburn
  • Breathing techniques
  • Swollen ankles
  • Lymphatic work
  • Naturally bring on labour on or around your due date
  • Digestive issues
  • Preparing the body for labour by balancing internal functions especially the endocrine system
  • Boost energy levels

Whilst reflexology is considered safe during pregnancy guidelines recommend reflexology is not carried out during the first twelve weeks of pregnancy to allow the pregnancy to establish first. Treatment can start once pregnancy reaches the second trimester. In order to receive reflexology during your pregnancy you will need to be under the care of a trained midwife or doctor. It is advisable to consult with your health care professional before, starting a course of reflexology.
