Fertility reflexology and women’s health

Subfertility affects 1 in 5 couples in the UK. For many fertilities related problems, no cause is identified, even following complete investigation.

Having reflexology can help support you both emotionally and physically whilst trying to conceive. Specialist fertility reflexology may help with fertility problems by balancing hormone production necessary for conception to occur, balancing all systems of the body, which includes regulating periods and promoting ovulation. For males it can also help increase sperm quantity and quality.

Fertility problems can be highly stressful. Studies have shown that continuous high levels of stress cause a prolonged release of cortisol the stress hormone.  Over time this can inhibit the production of fertility hormones. Reflexology known for its relaxation inducing qualities can allow the body to be in optimum health nurturing the right environment for conception to occur.

Natural conception

Following a thorough consultation to explore factors surrounding your infertility. The recommended treatment plan is six treatments weekly initially until ovulation timing is known, then 1 to 2 treatments prior to ovulation and 1 to 2 treatments prior to menstruation. Along with guidance on diet, lifestyle and managing stress. It is advisable to undergo routine fertility tests with your GP prior to treatment.

It is recommended men receive weekly reflexology for around 8 to 12 weeks to promote and encourage healthy sperm.

Assisted conception

For assisted conception such as IUI, IVF, ICSI the reflexology is individually tailored to complement the drug protocol. Reducing side effects and managing stress. It is best to start reflexology around 3 months before the intervention to help regulate the menstrual cycle and balance hormones. Treatments will need to be weekly or at the very least one treatment before drugs and fertility intervention commences.
